Result
From clock times to net hours
The calculator finds the elapsed time from start to finish, then subtracts the break. For example, 22:00 to 06:00 with a 30-minute break gives 7 hours 30 minutes, or 7.5 decimal hours.
This is a time calculation only. It does not decide overtime, pay, or compliance with local employment rules.
About this tool
Subtract a break from the time between start and finish, and see both hours and minutes and decimal hours.
If the finish is not later than the start, it is treated as the following day. Equal start and finish times represent a 24-hour shift.
Frequently asked questions
Does it support overnight shifts?
Yes. A shift such as 22:00 to 06:00 is treated as crossing midnight.
What if the break is longer than the shift?
The tool shows an error because the net working time would be invalid.
Does it calculate overtime pay?
No. It calculates elapsed working time only.
