WAV Audio Trimmer

Trim uncompressed WAV audio by start and end time, locally in your browser. Preview and save the selected range as PCM16 WAV.

How to use

  1. Choose a WAV file to trim.
  2. Set Start and End in seconds; leave End blank for the exact source end.
  3. Trim and save the WAV, then check the saved interval.

Audio and selection

Choose one uncompressed WAV file (up to 50 MB). WAVE_FORMAT_EXTENSIBLE is not supported.

How to use and supported formats

Supports uncompressed RIFF/WAV PCM 8/16/24/32-bit or 32-bit float, mono/stereo, 8–96 kHz, source up to 600 seconds and 50 MB. MP3, AAC, WebM, compressed WAV, RF64 and WAVE_FORMAT_EXTENSIBLE are unsupported.

Start and end use seconds with up to six decimal places. Both are rounded down to source sample positions. Start is included and end is excluded. An empty end selects the exact final sample. Select at least one sample.

Output is PCM16 WAV at the original sample rate and channel count. 8-bit expands to 16-bit, 24/32-bit integers discard low bits and float is quantized to 16-bit. Selected float samples must be finite and between -1 and 1. No gain, resampling, fades or source metadata retention. Output up to 50 MB. Preview never autoplays.

Files are processed locally in a Worker, without upload or persistence. Changes or cancellation discard old output. After a change during file reading, select the file again once reading settles. Check the saved WAV in your target app.

Try a use case and check the result

Check how time ranges map to samples in a one-second synthetic stereo WAV.

Example buttons replace the inputs and settings above with synthetic data and process it. Restore previous input steps back one example at a time. After trying multiple examples, repeat restore to return to your original input. This history is lost when the page closes.

Trim the middle half-second

Input and settings

One second, 8000 Hz, two channels, PCM16; start 0.25, end 0.75 seconds.

Expected result

4000 samples/channel, 0.500000 seconds, 16044 WAV bytes. Original frames 2000–5999 are preserved.

Leave End blank to keep the tail

Input and settings

The same WAV, start 0.75 seconds and blank End.

Expected result

2000 samples/channel, 0.250000 seconds, 8044 bytes, preserving original frames 6000–7999.

How to read the result

The interval includes Start and excludes End. Boundaries floor time × sample rate; blank End means the source end. Channels and sample rate are retained; output is PCM16. No fade or silence detection is applied.

Scope and limits

One WAV up to 50 MB and 600 seconds. Uncompressed PCM8/16/24/32-bit or float32, mono/stereo, 8–96 kHz. Compressed/extensible WAV and multiple data chunks are unsupported. Times allow six decimals and at least one sample. Output is limited to 50 MB. Examples are synthetic and do not autoplay.

Independently calculate RIFF fields and source PCM byte ranges, then compare every saved sample.
