Split 10 three ways and inspect rounding
Input and settings
Total: 10 / People: 3 / Tip: 0%
Expected result
Per person: 3.33 Total: 10 Three displayed shares total 9.99. The remaining 0.01 is not allocated automatically.
Split a total between people, with an optional tip percentage.
These are example steps; replace the values for your task.
Divide a total evenly and optionally include a tip. It is designed for quick checks at restaurants, on trips, or whenever a group shares one bill.
The result is an equal split. It does not assign different order amounts or decide how to round cash payments.
With a total of 10,000, three people and no tip, the equal-share result is approximately 3,333.33 per person. Three identical whole-number payments will not add back to exactly 10,000.
Check an equal share including tip and understand the remainder caused by display rounding.

The large value is one person’s share after adding tip. Total includes tip. For an uneven division such as 10÷3, displaying at most two decimal places can make the displayed shares add up to less or more than the bill.
People must be a positive integer, total non-negative and tip 0–1000%. The tool does not split by items ordered, round up to cash denominations or allocate a remainder. Adjust the remainder between payers if needed.
Verification: existing calculateSplitBill checks cover 10÷3, 132÷3 after a tip of 12, and rejection of zero people. Fractional calculation values are checked separately from display rounding.
A bill of 8,000 split between 4 people with a 10% tip gives a tip of 800, a total of 8,800 and 2,200 per person.
The tip is bill × rate ÷ 100; the total including tip is divided by the number of people.
People must be a whole number of at least 1. The tip field takes a percentage, so do not enter the cash amount 800 there.
Yes. The tip starts at 0%.
Monetary results are shown with up to two decimal places. Cash rounding is left to you.
