About this tool
Remove known marketing and click-tracking parameters such as utm_ fields, fbclid, and gclid. Ordinary parameters that may control page content are preserved.
Cleaning happens locally. Neither the original nor cleaned URL is stored or sent to a server.

How to read the result
Compare the result URL with the removed-field list. In the first example only utm_source and fbclid disappear; id=42 and #details remain. The second example keeps ref because it is outside the recognized names.
Scope and limits
Matching is case-insensitive for the utm_ prefix and fbclid, gclid, mc_cid and mc_eid. A complete http/https URL is required. This does not expand short URLs or check destination safety. Removing fields or reserializing a signed URL can invalidate its signature.
Verification: the existing cleanUrl function is checked for tracking-field removal, ordinary-field and fragment preservation, and rejection of non-http(s) input. It processes the string without opening the URL.

Cleaning https://example.com/search?q=book&utm_source=mail#top returns https://example.com/search?q=book#top. The q search value and #top fragment remain.
The destination is not fetched or checked. Removing a known tracking parameter does not verify that the resulting page will behave identically.
